Six Months of Lessons

Reflection and synthesis. What the journey has taught you.

The 30-Second Version

Duration: 40 seconds Compliance: No issues - this is philosophical/reflective.

"Six months ago I didn't know what any of my genes meant.

Now I can trace a line from a specific variant in my DNA to a specific number in my blood to how I feel when I wake up.

Here's the biggest thing I've learned:

'Fine' is the most dangerous word in medicine.

Every doctor told me my labs were fine. My inflammation was elevated. My vitamins were the wrong form. Six genes were working against me.

Fine means 'not dying.' It doesn't mean optimal.

The second biggest lesson: generic advice is the starting point, not the answer.

'Take vitamin D.' How much? Depends on your genetics. 'Take B12.' What form? Depends on your genetics. 'Take omega-3s.' From what source? Depends on your genetics.

Your body came with a manual. You just have to read it.

I work with a medical team. I'm going to keep sharing mine. Follow along."

Last line (quotable): "Your body came with a manual. You just have to read it."

Six months ago I couldn't tell you what MTHFR stood for.

Now I can trace a line from a specific gene variant to a specific molecule in my blood to a specific change in how I feel every day.

Here's what this journey has actually taught me. 🧵

02

Lesson 1: "Fine" is the most dangerous word in medicine.

Every doctor told me my labs were "fine." My CRP was 3.5. My B12 was being wasted. My inflammation genes were firing.

"Fine" means "not dying." It doesn't mean optimal.

03

Lesson 2: Genetics isn't destiny, but it IS context.

Knowing my COMT type didn't cure my focus problems. But it explained WHY I have them and pointed me toward solutions that actually match my biology.

Context changes everything.

04

Lesson 3: Most health information is generic.

"Take vitamin D." Ok, how much? Depends on your VDR variant. "Take omega-3s." From what source? Depends on your FADS genes. "Take B12." What form? Depends on 6 different variants.

Generic advice is the starting point, not the answer.

05

Lesson 4: The interactions matter more than the ingredients.

I was taking 30+ things. Most of them were fine individually. The COMBINATIONS were the problem.

Nobody checks this. Not your doctor, not the internet. This is the biggest gap in health optimization right now.

06

Lesson 5: Sharing your data helps you think.

Writing these posts forced me to articulate WHY I take each thing. If I can't explain it clearly, I probably shouldn't be taking it.

Transparency isn't just for the audience. It's a forcing function for your own clarity.

I'm going to keep sharing.

The genetic data, the bloodwork, the protocols, the mistakes, the tools.

If you've been following along - thank you. If you're new - start with the genetics thread (pinned to my profile).

The manual exists. Most people just never read it.

This is what I put in The Manual every week.
